Matthew Cross is an instructor in the Department of Geography & the Environment at the University of Denver, teaching classes in remote sensing and LiDAR. As a senior product manager at Maxar Technologies, he led the development and launch of core imagery products and services, working with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to deliver high-quality and user-centric outcomes. Matthew also contributed to the company’s mission of providing geospatial intelligence and insights to customers across various domains and sectors. Prior to that, he was an associate professor and coordinator of the GISci certificate program at the University of Colorado Denver, where he taught and mentored students, conducted research, and published papers on topics related to remote sensing of the environment. He has in-depth experience with databases, data management, and ArcGIS Pro, as well as a keen interest in the applications and implications of imagery and geospatial data for various fields and challenges.

Education

Matthew has a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering Systems from the University of Colorado Denver, and an M.A. in Climatology/Remote Sensing and a B.S. in Meteorology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Bio

Since 2003, Scott Kelly has worked with GIS and remote sensing, having started his career with the U.S. Geological Survey and then served as the Lab Director for the GIS and Remote Sensing Core Laboratory at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He has created online workshops and taught several geospatial courses. Other projects have included Grand Canyon archeology GIS management, land change detection with the BLM in southern Arizona, and ground water detection in Eastern Africa with USAID. Scott enjoys the combination of art and science that he finds in GIS and remote sensing. He currently resides in Flagstaff, AZ.

Education

Scott earned his M. S. in Geospatial Sciences from Northern Arizona University, and an M.S. in Sport and Leisure Services Management from University of Nevada Las Vegas.

Scott Dickenson has more than 40 years of experience in operations and supply chain. He is currently the Vice President of Global Supply Chain for Associated Materials Incorporated where he oversees all supply chain functions including planning, distribution and logistics for a multi-facility private equity producer of residential building products.

Prior to this, Scott had spent the majority of his career in operational and global supply chain roles in the automotive industry with more than 20 years working with the Japanese automotive industry. Scott has held senior global operational roles with the Toyota Group, Eaton Corporation and Diebold Nixdorf Corporation.

Education

Scott has a Ph.D. Technology Management with emphasis in Manufacturing Systems from Indiana State University, as well as several master’s degrees from Eastern Kentucky University and Southern Polytechnic State University.

Teaching Philosophy

Scott has been an instructor for graduate and undergraduate courses in supply chain, operations and engineering for more than 20 years and has a passion for connecting his professional background to the classroom and working with students either in the field or entering the field for the first time.

Guido earned his Doctorate in Computer Science at the University of Minnesota, introducing a novel theory, methodology, and approach for human body sensing. His educational background includes a M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Minnesota, and a M.S. and a B.S. in Telecommunication Engineering from the Polytechnic of Turin and the University of Palermo respectively, in Italy.

Professional Background

Guido has led hardware and software engineering teams in start-up organizations, successfully translating concepts and ideas into prototypes and consumer-driven commercial products.

Guido’s passion for teaching is rooted in his extensive academic journey and enriched by over a decade of experience in the start-up industry. Tonie Moore is the Director of Nursing for the Ambulatory Primary Care Service, Urgent Care, and Dental Program for Denver Health and Hospital. She has over 28 years of healthcare leadership and management experience.

Education

Tonie earned her B.S. in Nursing, M.S. in Organizational Leadership, and Leadership and Management certification from Regis University.

Civic Engagement

Tonie is the Diversity Equity Inclusion and Belonging Co-Chair and is a board member for University of Denver Healthcare Management Advisory Board and previous board member for Colorado Organization of Nurse Leader. She is also a member of National Association of Health Services Executives and the American Organization of Nurse Leaders.

Professional Background

Tonie has experience in educating and mentoring a vast number of leaders from various clinical and nonclinical areas. As a leader she has voiced the importance of supporting and walking alongside her team as they progress within their management careers. Tonie’s experience also includes being a facilitator for the LEAN Management Systems for senior leaders within Denver Health. She is also the founder of Believing in Her LLC.

Teaching Philosophy

Tonie believes in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment that would support and align all students with the mission of DU. Deb Gardner has been a practicing Registered Nurse for more than 35 years and currently serves as Associate Chief Nursing Officer supporting Denver Health Community Health Centers, primary care and specialty clinics.

Professional Background

Deb has served in her current role for eight years and has worked at Denver Health for the past 25 years in a variety of roles. Deb’s clinical practice focused on labor and delivery/obstetrics and gynecology. In her current leadership position, she is responsible for supporting patient care, quality and experience through leadership, education, training, onboarding, policy development coaching, mentoring and leadership development for frontline in staff in the Ambulatory Care Nursing, Rehab Services, and Care Management departments. Deb was instrumental in founding a medical assistant training program at Denver Health as well supporting max vaccination efforts, and virtual hospital care during the COVID pandemic.

Education

Deb earned her B.S. in Nursing from the University of Colorado College of Nursing, and her M.S. in Nursing Leadership from Regis University Rueckert-Hartman College for Health Professions Hartman.

Nirav works as a senior software developer at the University of Denver IT department helping with data integration, software implementation projects, and design and development of university-specific software solutions.

Prior to his current role, he worked in healthcare, food manufacturing, insurance, higher-ed and telecom industries in various roles as application developer, software engineer, team lead, manager and consultant.

Nirav has a passion for helping students learn complex computer science concepts by using easy-to-understand examples, practice vs theory differences and hands-on exercises.

Kyle Ennenga is a cybersecurity practitioner with more than 15 years of professional experience across technical, operational leadership, project and program management, and consulting roles. Today, he serves as a Cybersecurity Specialist at the Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA). In this role, he provides cybersecurity subject matter expertise to an antiterrorism program.

Education

Kyle earned a B.A. in Political Science focusing on international and comparative politics from Metropolitan State University of Denver. He earned his M.S. in ICT (Information Systems Security concentration) from the University of Denver.

Professional Background

Kyle has served in technical and management roles across multiple industries, including government, consulting and financial services. This experience includes managing multi-million dollar federal I.T. contracts, and traditional I.T. project management, as well as leading a 24×7 SOC team at one of the world’s largest consulting firms. Kyle earned his Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI) in 2014. Before shifting to the I.T. industry, he served in public policy roles in Washington, D.C., as well as serving elected officials at the state and county levels.

Motivation for Teaching

Kyle is a self-described news junkie and technology geek who found his calling in educating others about the threats facing critical infrastructure across the country. Kyle brings this passion for educating others to the University of Denver where he delivers a variety of educational methods that students from all backgrounds can utilize to learn and grow. Kyle believes that students learn best when they share real-world experiences to bolster the absorption of technical concepts. The security industry is one of constant learning and adaptation and Kyle seeks to foster that environment amongst his students. He is readily available via email and virtual office hours to answer questions and provide guidance on the infosec and project and program management domains.

John earned his Doctorate in Management from Colorado Technical University, where he also completed his MBA with an emphasis on International Business. He holds a B.S. in Business with a focus on Finance and Marketing from Regis University. Additionally, John is a certified Six Sigma Green Belt and has completed the Supply Chain Executive Training program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

John currently serves as the System Director of Supply Chain Distribution at CommonSpirit Health (CSH), managing the distribution of medical supplies across 139 facilities in the U.S. His achievements include developing international distribution channels and a Total Cost of Ownership model. Before this, John was the Director of Logistics, Distribution, and Transportation at Pepsi Beverages Company, where he led initiatives that significantly improved cost efficiency, service levels and safety metrics.
