Scott Dickenson has more than 40 years of experience in operations and supply chain. He is currently the Vice President of Global Supply Chain for Associated Materials Incorporated where he oversees all supply chain functions including planning, distribution and logistics for a multi-facility private equity producer of residential building products.

Prior to this, Scott had spent the majority of his career in operational and global supply chain roles in the automotive industry with more than 20 years working with the Japanese automotive industry. Scott has held senior global operational roles with the Toyota Group, Eaton Corporation and Diebold Nixdorf Corporation.

Education

Scott has a Ph.D. Technology Management with emphasis in Manufacturing Systems from Indiana State University, as well as several master’s degrees from Eastern Kentucky University and Southern Polytechnic State University.

Teaching Philosophy

Scott has been an instructor for graduate and undergraduate courses in supply chain, operations and engineering for more than 20 years and has a passion for connecting his professional background to the classroom and working with students either in the field or entering the field for the first time.

With a career spanning several decades, he is renowned for his ability to re-engineer programs and processes, leading to significant improvements in profit, operational efficiency and service quality.

Education

John earned his Doctorate in Management from Colorado Technical University, where he also completed his MBA with an emphasis on International Business. He holds a B.S. in Business with a focus on Finance and Marketing from Regis University. Additionally, John is a certified Six Sigma Green Belt and has completed the Supply Chain Executive Training program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Professional Background

John currently serves as the System Director of Supply Chain Distribution at CommonSpirit Health (CSH), managing the distribution of medical supplies across 139 facilities in the U.S. His achievements include developing international distribution channels and a Total Cost of Ownership model. Before this, John was the Director of Logistics, Distribution, and Transportation at Pepsi Beverages Company, where he led initiatives that significantly improved cost efficiency, service levels and safety metrics. He also held various managerial roles at United Parcel Service (UPS), where he implemented strategies that enhanced customer service and operational efficiency.

John’s motivation for teaching stems from his passion for mentoring and developing future leaders. Dana Reynolds has over 25 years of experience in homeland security, emergency management, and law enforcement. He most recently served as Response Division Director for FEMA Region 9, based out of Oakland, CA. Prior to that he served several years with FEMA Region 8, Denver, as Team Lead for the region’s Incident Management Assistance Team (IMAT).

Prior to joining FEMA, Dana served with the Colorado Division of Homeland Security & Emergency Management (DHSEM) from 2011-2016, which included assignments as State Director of the Office of Emergency Management (OEM) and former Director of the Office of Preparedness. He also served 11 years with the Colorado State Patrol (CSP) as a sworn officer. His last assignment with CSP was as Captain of the Homeland Security Section and Director of the Colorado Information Analysis Center (CIAC), the state fusion center.

Dana previously served as a Senior Lecturer in the Homeland Security Certificate Program at the Korbel School of International Studies, as well as adjunct faculty in the Department of Sociology & Criminology at DU. Dana serves on the Board of Directors for the Colorado Emergency Management Association (CEMA) and is past President of the Denver InfraGard Chapter, an FBI-sponsored 501(c)3 devoted to critical infrastructure protection.

Education

Dana earned a bachelor’s degree in public administration from Regis University and a master’s degree in criminal justice from the University of Colorado at Denver. He also attended the Executive Leadership Program (ELP) at the Naval Postgraduate School, Center for Homeland Defense & Security, along with the Leadership in Crisis Program at the Harvard Kennedy School.

Patrick O’Toole (M.A., George Washington University; M.P.M.; Georgetown University) has over 30 years-experience in Security and Law Enforcement. As a retired supervisory Federal agent and retired military veteran he has had significant roles in designated special security events worldwide. Among those, he was a first responder at The Pentagon on 9/11 and later served as a member of the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force.

BS in Criminal Justice from the University of Maryland; Masters in Policy Management from Georgetown University; MA in Criminal Justice from The George Washington University

Professional Background

Patrick’s expertise lies in the areas of investigations, security policy, physical security, critical incident, emergency planning, security systems and risk management. His areas of interest and research include threat assessment, vulnerability assessments, crisis management and training.

He is a Distinguished Lifetime Member of the National Technical Investigators’ Association and Certified Technical Investigator. In his previous roles, he has worked with leading security firms providing security and risk management consulting services to government agencies and private companies.

Motivation for Teaching

Patrick’s teaching style is interactive, using case studies and real-world scenarios to provide students with experience in security management. He also emphasizes the importance of ethical decision-making in security management, reinforcing the need to balance the rights of individuals with the need to protect organizations.

Jack Buffington is the Program Director/Professor for the Supply Chain Management program at the University of Denver, and the Director of the Supply Chain and Sustainability practices for First Key Consulting, a global consulting firm in the brewing industry. Prior, Jack held various leadership roles in manufacturing and supply chain for MolsonCoors. Jack received a Ph.D. in Supply Chain Management from Lulea University of Technology in Lulea, Sweden, and a Post-Doc at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden. Jack has published over twenty peer-reviewed journal articles and seven non-fiction business books, winning various awards. His next book releases are “Reinventing Supply Chain: A 21st Century Covenant for America” (Georgetown University Press, April 2023), and “21st Century Sustainability: Economic Growth and a Green Planet by 2050” (Rowman & Littlefield, April, 2024).
