Dave Colen is a security and investigations professional with more than 30 years of experience covering federal law enforcement, corporate investigations security and house of worship security. In addition, Dave has considerable experience in teaching and public affairs as it relates to security, crisis management, teaching and building security-related coursework, as well as career mentoring to those in various stages of their career.

Dave earned a B.S. in Accounting from Bradley University and a MSC in Communication from Northwestern University.

Bio

Jonathan Coombes currently serves as the Chief Information Security Officer at Conagra Brands. As the senior-most cybersecurity leader in the organization, he has enterprise-wide responsibilities for all aspects of Cybersecurity and Security Risk Management in both the Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) environments.

Professional Background

Previously, Jonathan served in several security and privacy leadership roles across multiple industries, including government, healthcare, financial services, hi-tech, retail, telecommunications, and energy. He has earned multiple professional certifications in the areas of IT security and risk management, including CISSP, ISSMP, CISM, CRISC, and GICSP. Jonathan is also a retired military service member, where he functioned as a military fighter pilot and intelligence officer in U.S. Marine Corps. He retired as a Colonel after 27 years of service.

Jonathan earned his B.A.S. in Computer Science from Campbell University, his M.S. in Computer Information Systems from Boston University, his MBA from Northwestern University, and his D.Sc. in Cybersecurity from Marymount University.

Jonathan has a passion for cybersecurity and sharing the many facets associated with an ever-changing profession. He has been teaching at the graduate level for over 20 years and is focused on helping develop the next generation of successful cybersecurity professionals. Jim Henderson is a highly respected security professional with over 45 years of experience across law enforcement, the intelligence community, classified security operations, and corporate ethics. His expertise encompasses an understanding of global security and the development of protection strategies. Additionally, he has experience in leading successful security teams, both domestically and internationally.

Jim earned an associate’s degree in Police Science from Palomar College, a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from National University, a master’s degree in Communication from the University of Denver, and a doctorate in Strategic Leadership from Regent University.

Professional Background

Jim is an adjunct professor at the College of Professional Studies, teaching courses in security operations management. He has served on the boards of the Industrial Security Working Group, the FBI Rocky Mountain InfraGard Chapter, and the Metropolitan Law Enforcement Association. Jim has received the FBI’s highest civilian honor for exceptional service and is a three-time recipient of the DoD James S. Cogswell Award for Security Excellence. He is an alum of Harvard Business School’s Executive Program for High-Potential Leaders.

John Hill has over three decades of experience as an environmental and security executive and expert on large transportation, infrastructure, industrial and environmental projects in the United States, Asia and Europe. He also worked in venture capital centered on energy and environmental investments in the EU, UK and Scandinavia.

Education

John earned a bachelor’s and master’s in physics and a doctorate in environmental science and engineering, all from the University of California.

Professional Background

John’s professional experience includes: working as a California Legislature staff member working on the state’s environmental and energy policies; working for a Chairman of the Council on Environmental Quality; performing environmental and safety risk analyses related to expanding oil and gas exploration and production operations in the North Sea; directing environmental operations for a manufacturer of specialty chemicals and propulsion systems; directing investments for a European venture capital and development firm (focused on energy and environmental investments).

John seeks to assist students in learning and applying multiple effective techniques for seamlessly integrating course materials into their current or aspirational professional contexts and thereby elevating their careers and career trajectories.

Bio

Alex Jadrich is a dedicated servant leader with a unique blend of experience in incident management, security operations, and emergency management. He currently serves as a Senior Emergency Management Specialist for the City and County of Denver within the Mayor’s Office of Emergency Management. In this role, Alex leads the city’s Continuity of Government program and supports continuity of operations planning across all city agencies. He also works closely with community partners and businesses to strengthen their continuity capabilities. Additionally, Alex oversees Denver OEM’s 24/7 Duty Officer Program, ensuring emergency management staff are trained, equipped, and ready to respond to emerging incidents at any time.

Education

Alex has a B.S. in Business Administration from the State University of New York-Brockport and an M.A. in Instructional Design & Technology from the University of Central Florida. He is a Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) through the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM), a Certified Protection Professional (CPP) through ASIS International, and serves as a Threat Liaison Officer (TLO) for the State of Colorado.

Professional Background

Before working for the City and County of Denver, Alex worked as the Manager of Public Safety, Security and Emergency Management for Denver Zoo, where he oversaw a wide range of responsibilities related to planning, protection, mitigation, response, and recovery efforts for all human, physical, and animal assets for the 84-acre zoo campus. Before that, he worked with The Walt Disney Company in various resort leadership roles over the years, including being a Resort Duty Manager/Security Operations Manager and working with executive leaders on incident management, guest satisfaction and brand protection. In 2017 he was awarded the honorable Disney Heroes Award, for using lifesaving skills on a guest.

Alex has presented at the ASIS Global Security Exchange conference and the International Foundation of Cultural Property Protection conferences, as well as has been written about in Security Magazine and in the ASIS Security Management Magazine.

Alex has a passion for ongoing professional development and always seeks to be engaged with trends and situational awareness within the industry. He believes it is critical to instruct, develop and attract folks to the Security Management and Emergency Management fields.
Alex approaches teaching with the same mindset he brings to security/emergency management. That means being understanding, engaged, thoughtful, empathetic, vulnerable, wholehearted, detailed, organized and daring. He expects students will do the same in their learning journey, learning from each other and keeping an open approach to learning and interacting.

Adam String has been in law enforcement in Colorado since 2010. He is currently the Senior Criminal Investigator of the Human Trafficking Unit at Denver District Attorney’s Office and serves on a federal task force in the Denver Metro area.

Prior to his career in law enforcement, Adam was in the U.S. Navy as a Cryptologist, serving in multiple assignments around the world.

Adam holds a master’s degree in Executive Leadership, a bachelor’s degree in International Affairs and Political Science, and an associate degree in Criminal Justice.

Sam Walters is a semi-retired public safety and environmental health and safety professional and consultant with over 30 years of experience. He has extensive experience in both the environmental and emergency services fields with building organizations and working within government and the private sector.

Education

Sam earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from McMurry University, a Master of Science in Government Leadership from Grand Canyon University, and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Public Policy and Administration with a specialization in Homeland Security/Emergency Management Policy and Coordination from Walden University.

Professional Background

Sam is a retired fire chief, paramedic, and environmental health and safety professional with over 25 years of experience in public safety and the environmental field. He currently owns a consulting firm that specializes in assisting government agencies and private companies with government policies and operations in emergency management, security management, environmental policies, and occupational safety.

Sam is dedicated to the education of professionals in government policies and operations with a focus on “real world” solutions. He helps students through the sometimes-complex world of government policies and regulations with a focus on helping them develop the tools to disseminate and build operational policy.

Vincent C. Wincelowicz is a distinguished Security and Safety Consultant with an illustrious career spanning over 40 years in law enforcement and security. Renowned for his expertise, he served as the former Chief of Undercover and Sensitive Operations at the FBI, where he made significant contributions to the field. Vincent also shared his wealth of knowledge as an esteemed Instructor at the FBI National Academy.

A seasoned academic, Vincent holds the position of Professor Emeritus in Criminology at Regis University. His impact on academia extends to leadership roles, having served as the Dean of the College of Business at Johnson & Wales University and as the Chair of Behavior Sciences at Regis University.

Throughout his career, Vincent has been a beacon of excellence, combining practical experience with a commitment to education. His legacy is marked by a dedication to the highest standards in security and a profound influence on the next generation of professionals in the field.
